Legal
Acceptable use policy
Last updated 7 September 2026
This is part of the terms of service. It is short because most of it is obvious, and it exists because carriers and payment providers require it.
Do not use DeckHand to
- Message people who have not agreed to hear from you.
- Send anything unlawful, deceptive, harassing, or designed to impersonate someone else.
- Send messages about the categories carriers restrict: loans and debt relief, gambling, cannabis, firearms, prescription drugs, adult content, cryptocurrency offers, or get-rich-quick schemes.
- Collect payment details or passwords through a message we send.
- Present an AI-generated draft as coming from a licensed professional where the law requires one — a medical, legal or financial opinion, for instance.
- Attempt to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or work around the limits on your account.
- Resell the service, or use it to build a competing product.
Automated replies
Approval is on by default and can be relaxed. Whatever you choose, you are responsible for every message that leaves your account. Two rules cannot be switched off: a message flagged as a legal threat, an injury or an emergency is never answered automatically, and an empty draft is never sent.
What happens if this is broken
We may pause the account, with an explanation where we can give one. A paused account keeps its data. Serious or repeated breaches end the agreement.
Reporting
